Nice Cycle Tours

FAQ's

Below are some of the Frequently Asked Questions.

What do I need to wear?
A hat, T-shirt, shorts and trainers are ideal. We recommend that you bring a long sleeve shirt as the Mediterranean sun is strong during the summer months.
What do I need to bring?
Bring a small backpack or satchel with your sun-cream, sunglasses, hat and of course your camera.
For the Discover the Riviera tour, lunch is on the beach so bring your swimming costume and towel if you want to swim.
Note: We provide water bottles and stop frequently to refill.
How fit do I have to be?
The Nice tour lasts around 3 hours at a leisurely pace and covers around 10 km (6 miles). There is one small hill (which takes about 10 minutes to cycle up).

The Riviera tour lasts around 5 hours at a leisurely pace and covers around 25 km (16 miles). There are two 80 meter climbs.

Remember that Nice can get quite hot in summer (up to 30 degrees). We believe anybody with an average level of fitness will have no trouble completing the Nice tour, even if you have not been on a bicycle for a while. As always, before undertaking physical exercise it is advisable to consult your doctor if in doubt.
What about children?
The main tours are for all ages from 15 years and upwards. For families we offer private Nice tours at the same price as the normal Nice tour. As safety is key to us, we have planned a special route for children avoiding any cycling on roads. Please state that you need a family tour in the contact us form.
What happens if it rains?
It rarely rains in Nice during the summer! In the unlikely event that the tour has to be cancelled due to bad weather before starting, a full refund will be given. If a tours starts and is cut short a pro-rata refund will be given.
How long does the tour last?
The Discover Nice tour lasts around 3 hours at a leisurely pace and covers around 10 km (6 miles).

The Discover the Riviera tour lasts around 5 hours again at a leisurely pace and covers around 25 km (16 miles) with 2 hill climbs.

Are the roads dangerous in Nice?
Like any big city traffic can be heavy in places. That is why we have designed the tour to keep busy roads to a minimum and take advantage of the quiet streets and cycle paths.
How hot does it get?
In the summer months, temperatures can often get up to 30 degrees in Nice. This is why our tours start in the morning and late in the afternoon.
